Often there are many different copies of the same piece of video, of differing quality. In theory it should be possible to take several overlapping segments of video and produce a higher quality output than any of the individual streams.
This might be live (from different broadcast sources) or offline.
It could be a nice way for a video player to flag up that something has been cut. Determining which is authentic and wanted will require more collaboration.

As well as improving the output quality of the video, this could also form the backbone of a source-independent file-sharing system. (Detail to follow).
